Researching a legal topic: case law

You can use legal databases like Lexis Library and Westlaw UK to search for cases by name, citation, subject or keyword, and to find cases that cite a specific piece of legislation.

The Law Reports Index can be used to find citations if you only know the name of the case, and you are researching using print sources.

The Digest is an encyclopaedia of older cases, but it is not kept up to date. Both publications are available in the LAWS sequence in Western Bank Library.
